I realized this morning that my poor Favorite Husband has been brooding since the weekend. We saw Slumdog Millionaire, which is sort of a feel-good fairy tale set within the awful slums of Mumbai, which look particularly bad to middle-class Americans who lead their sheltered lives and who whine and complain about the miserable horror of their lives when they don't get enough spicy sauce on their sushi. Oh, and another observation Mojo has recently made, and now shares with you so that you can maybe learn from her bitter mistakes: If you and your Favorite Husband (or whatever companion of your choosing) should have dinner in a decent enough Greek restaurant, and your Favorite Husband should order something but decide he doesn't want the cole slaw that comes with it for some reason.....Just Order the Stupid Cole Slaw, okay?  MORE Mojo! »

I've decided it's simply not worth it. Whenever you try to be spontaneously nice to people, they give you such a hassle you end up wishing you'd never been born. Well, okay, maybe it's not that bad. But while Mojo is indeed a fan of delicious irony, never is the contrast and the irony greater than when you attempt to do a nice thing--just to be nice--and you just set yourself up for a heap of aggravation and annoyance.  MORE Mojo! »
