mother natureAnother Tiresome Person Rears Their Head...Submitted by mojo on Thu, 02/01/2007 - 2:53am
Mojo recently encountered a New Ager that made her very tired. More tired than usual. This person claimed to be an authority on herbal remedies, apparently by virtue of reading a book on the subject once. When asked what book it was, and who the author was, and what was the author's credentials, this person could not say. But it was an "excellent" book, and the person took a decidedly dim view of Mojo's openly questioning the Wisdom of the Ancients. Mojo's birthday is coming up. It's Saturday. Luckily for everyone concerned she is magnanimous enough to accept gifts for the entire month of September. But that doesn't mean you should wait until the last minute. Get your gifts in early! Due to the upcoming National Holiday (meaning of course Mojo's Birthday and not some obscure holiday created to celebrate work by not working) Mojo has decided not to work on Friday (really the only day she can celebrate her birthday, since on the actual birthday she has to work at the lieberry) nor on Monday (actual Labor Day, on which Mojo was actually born some 43 years ago). Mojo does not know what she will do with such a bonanza of free time. She will probably cut and split and chop and stack more firewood, since she is THAT sort of exciting person. I finished reading The Weasel's morbid book on the Grand Canyon, and strange as it may seem it has made me more determined than ever to go there and visit. Some of it may be hubris, pretending I am indeed smarter than some of the chuckleheads in said book ("Lookit me! Quick! Take a picture! Waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!") but I think most of it is that it scared me, and being a phobic person from 'way back I have learned (the hard way, I assure you!) that the only way to conquer fear is to face it and not run away like the screaming coward I actually am. So now I am determined to go to the Grand Canyon and go rafting and muling and camping and the whole nine yards. MORE Mojo! » |
