Sugar Season? Please?

Submitted by mojo on Fri, 02/19/2010 - 5:53am

Seeing how winter has been a total bust (Mojo says that knowing ONCE she says it we will get The Blizzard of a Lifetime), Mojo turns her baby blues toward spring. Well, mostly because yesterday was the first truly WARM day since fall. It felt like spring out there, so Mojo gets all misty and dreamy and forgets that here, where she lives, it has been known to snow substantially in early May. (I was a teenager. They had just put up the tobacco nets the week before.  MORE Mojo! »

An Idyll Amongst the Fwowers

Submitted by mojo on Mon, 10/01/2007 - 6:59am

So yesterday we ended up wandering our way down to the reservoir. It's been bone dry the past month and a half or so--just this morning the weather morons on the local news, when not showing off children's drawings and/or cracking lame jokes--were giggling (literally GIGGLING) about how this has been one of the driest late summers/early falls of all time with precipitation some SIX INCHES below normal. Which I don't think of as really something to giggle about, but I digress.  MORE Mojo! »

Dagnabbit!

Sometime in late spring, we had a storm and a nice big oak branch, maybe six inches in diameter and ten feet long, fell into the road. I dutifully dragged it out of the way and hid it in the weeds about ten feet off the road. My Evil Plan was to get the chainsaw at some point and go cut it up for firewood.  MORE Mojo! »

Poo Wrangling...

Yes, literally.

Mojo has decided she is going to have a garden this year. A big one. One to feed her family and all that stuff. Mojo likes gardening, but it is admittedly difficult to get her off her duff to do anything about it.  MORE Mojo! »

Mojo is Sad.

Submitted by mojo on Mon, 04/16/2007 - 6:18am

Not because of the pouring, pouring rain, although that doesn't help. At least it started out yesterday as probably five or six inches of snow before it switched over.

No, Mojo is sad because at some point this weekend Mojo bumped into someone she encounters on occasion, and Mojo is once again reminded of one of her Rules of Living which she would instantly impose should she some day rule the world. And that rule is this:

Any adult who consistently and constantly screams at and humiliates their young children in public should just be taken out back and shot. End of story.  MORE Mojo! »

Digging Out...

Submitted by mojo on Thu, 02/15/2007 - 5:57am

Well, we FINALLY got a snowstorm worth mentioning. Although much to my chagrin most of it came down as sleet and not snow. So instead of pretty fluffy stuff we have about six inches of slimy greasy granular stuff.  MORE Mojo! »

Ceramic Sugar Bowl (I *THINK*)!

Okay, Mojo Requires REAL Help Here....

Mojo is not as stupid as she looks. Or acts. Or as the latest testing technology indicates. But even a brain trust such as Mojo is having trouble with this one.

In Which Mojo Endures a Series of High-Pitched Expletives....

For those who might suspect that Mojo is the sort of person who dearly loves to dish out complaints without ever tolerating receiving any in return, I offer up this anecdote which happened Sunday morning:

While many people look upon Sunday morning as a time of quiet reflection, a day off when one may rise late and spend an hour or two just waking up, Mojo spent her Sunday morning participating in a wild rodeo-type atmosphere chasing a very angry and determined chipmunk around the house. Courtesy of the cat, who enjoys bringing them into the house totally unharmed and setting them free to appreciate the decor.  MORE Mojo! »

Vintage George and Martha Portraits!

Yes, now you can show off your patriotic fervor just in time for Independence Day with these! These are George and Martha Washington plaque-type wall hangings. The person who gave me these has no idea how old they are, except that "they're old". They were hanging on the wall in her mother's house while she was growing up. So they are at least fiftyish, since that's how old the giver is. Here's what the backs looks like—no clues there that I can see....  MORE Mojo! »

Busy, Busy, Busy....

Submitted by mojo on Fri, 01/07/2005 - 7:59pm

Finished up the Olmstead video. I'm getting quite good at Final Cut Pro. And I must admit I'm an absolute whiz at Flash animations. Still it took most of yesterday to prepare it for today's meeting. So I've been busy.  MORE Mojo! »
