skepticismMojo's Pathetically Self-Serving Link of the Day....Submitted by mojo on Tue, 10/20/2009 - 5:19am
I found this video clip while working on the EllaGeek site. Yes, EllaGeek ... because there's more to Mojo's life than just petty complaints and frequent whining. What is this link, you ask? As well you might. Mojo fully understands and appreciates your skepticism, especially when it comes to her and her ilk. But no, honest--this is totally on the up-and-up. What it is, is a video clip from what appears to be a documentary about the Ed Sullivan show. It's a setup with Sammy Davis Jr., who I can take or leave (he's a hair too Las Vegas show-bizzy for my taste) that culminates in Sammy singing the Gershwins' "'S Wonderful" with my gal Ella Fitzgerald. And it turns out to be so freakin' AMAZING that even Ed, who usually has all the charisma as a plank of wood, gets inspired enough to SING at the end of it, much to Ms. Fitzgerald's utter surprise and delight. For example, I direct the town's library, so I can spend vast amounts of taxpayer money on library books. And library books are a little different from the books you buy at the book store. For starters, if your library keeps the dust jackets on the books (and ours does), you get these clear plastic covers to protect them. We used to cover our own covers--and there's an art to it--but lately Mojo has found a new supplier who covers the covers for us. Which is nice because covering books is kinda dull, tedious work. Granted, you get to play with tape and scissors, but it gets old purty quick. So yesterday I get a great big box of new books in from the distributor. Which for me is like Christmas, and how many of you can say that about your job? Heh, I thought not, losers. Just another example of Mojo's charmed life while you stumble about in the dregs. But I digress. MORE Mojo! » Mojo's Pathetic Excuse du Jour.Submitted by mojo on Fri, 06/08/2007 - 7:39am
Okay, so I was going to digitize my footage yesterday. Instead I had a twelve-hour shift at the lieberry. In at nine, out at nine. And five minutes into my shift I realized I left my power adapter for my computer at home. So Mojo had to live without her computer for around ten whole hours after the battery died. I will pause here until the gasps of awe and sympathy subside. MORE Mojo! » Once Again, Mojo Declares Herself In Love....Submitted by mojo on Fri, 12/22/2006 - 1:50am
This time with a pair who have made a career out of being funny to the point of obnoxiousness. I think I first saw Penn & Teller on the David Letterman show a gazillion years ago when they did what had to be the funniest card trick I had ever seen. (The one involving a blindfold and a really big knife.) Since then I have seen them on TV off and on, and while I occasionally find them over-the-top and on the verge of annoying, they are rarely boring. MORE Mojo! » |
