Yes, they don't call it "buffet" for nothin', huh? And Mojo will probably never get used to the change in atmosphere in a hotel from the week--wherein the breakfast buffet only has the occasional surly Willy Lohman sort of businessman sitting alone at the corner table and totally and rudely ignoring any attempt to be social (yes, while Mojo can easily be reduced to grunting rudeness she does NOT appreciate it in others).  MORE Mojo! »


More on Pain...

I think for those who have never experienced a really BAD burn, you imagine the pain will be just an absolutely horrendous nightmare for the duration. I suppose I am somewhat lucky in that respect, as indeed I seem to be lucky in a lot of things lately (except for the actual burning part), in that It's Not As Bad As It Could Have Been.

Oh, yeah, make no mistake about it--it hurts. The pain is what drove me to the hospital in the first place. But it built up. I went into shock pretty quick--in fact I had to talk to myself for a bit while I paced to calm myself down so I wouldn't go entirely into shock and freak out--and it didn't get bad until an hour or two into it. But pretty much run-of-the-mill painkillers took care of it fairly well, although I believe I spent most of the first week snoring away on the couch. And, to be honest, I did absolutely ZERO work. I just couldn't concentrate.  MORE Mojo! »

For some reason even the paper tape is ripping me to bits. Changing the dressing is becoming an ordeal for an entirely different reason. God never intended certain parts of the human body to have tape applied to them and ripped off twice a day.

We are trying to come up with all sorts of innovative ways of taping, but it is all turning into agony.

I suspect the culprit is my ability to take showers. I was building up a pretty hefty half-inch or so of tape adhesive, which really cushioned the ripping off process. But now that I can bathe much more regularly and much more properly the glory of taking showers seems to take its toll in other areas...  MORE Mojo! »
